Ingredients

  • 2 can (14.5 oz) green beans cut, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.125 tsp black pepper
  • 1.33 cup French fried onions divided

Equipment

  • 1 2-quart baking dish

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a 2-quart baking dish, stir together the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and 2/3 cup French fried onions.
  3. Bake for 25 minutes, until hot and bubbling.
  4. Sprinkle the remaining 2/3 cup French fried onions over the casserole.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes, until golden brown.
  6. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the best texture, add the final layer of French fried onions only for the last 5 minutes of baking. Refrigerate leftovers for 3–4 days; freezing is not recommended because the sauce and onions may lose their texture. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free cream of mushroom soup and French fried onions.
